Invitation to HEPI / Lloyds webinar on ‘The long-term impact of COVID-19 on the higher education sector’

HEPI, with support from Lloyds Bank, is delighted to invite you to a webinar on ‘The long-term impact of COVID-19 on the higher education sector’ on Wednesday 4 November between 11am – 12.15pm

The events of 2020 have meant higher education institutions and policymakers have needed to focus on the immediate challenges facing them in order to respond to the crisis. However, it is clear the pandemic will have knock-on effects in future. With the Institute for Fiscal Studies estimating losses for the sector of between £3 billion and £19 billion, what will be the long-term financial picture for higher education institutions in the UK? How will last minute policy changes, such as the removal of the student numbers cap and changes to the administration of A-Levels in 2020 impact higher education and students in years to come? What can we learn from the technological developments of the last few months? Is blended learning here to stay?

This webinar will provide an opportunity to switch focus from the immediate to the longer-term effects of the pandemic, to consider what we can learn from our response to COVID-19 and what the sector can do to mitigate the negative impacts.
